This might seem strange to Spaniards, but for North Americans, it’s typical for us to want to eat eggs or pancakes for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Lucky for us, the kind folks at La Desayunería couldn’t agree more!
Opened in 2015, La Desayunería was inspired by a trip around the United States and specializes in all of the American breakfast and brunch favourites. And the huge portions just add to the authenticity! They tease me daily with their Facebook posts of thick, fluffy pancakes topped with pretty much everything, crispy fried chicken and waffles, and classic bacon and eggs. I kind of want to eat there all the time.
I have been living in Madrid for long enough to have forgotten about grilled cheese sandwiches, so when I saw those on the menu, I knew right away that I wanted one. Full of gooey cheese and bacon, with a side of fries, it was just what I needed. However, pancakes are their speciality, and do they ever look amazing? If you’re vegan, vegetarian, or following a gluten-free diet, don’t worry, there are options for you too!
Just like at the restaurants in the US, you will definitely not leave hungry. In fact, one meal is plenty to share. Along with friendly service, great prices, and super cute decor, La Desayunería is the perfect place to go if you’re homesick for an American breakfast or just want something fun and different at any time of the day.
