I didn’t think Madrid was lacking anything but now I’ve found Mazál Bagels and Café I’m wondering how I survived without it all these years!
Joking aside, these bagels are by far the best I’ve had here in Madrid; there are lots of flavours to choose from - my favourite stars cheddar, with jalapeños in the supporting role. I’m not alone in liking this one, so be there early if you want to try it as it sells out fast! You can buy a bag of bagels to go or eat in - there are lots of different filling options on the menu too. Recent arrivals include cinnamon rolls, Biscoff rolls and rugelach - all incredible.
They do brunch from Friday through Sunday - it’s popular, so book! Brunch is a la carte, so you can choose all the extras according to your budget; the challah French toast is great as are the seasonal pies and cakes.
So if you are longing for a good bagel or want to see what all the fuss is about, check out this friendly little cafe/bakery in the heart of Chamberi. You can also reserve your bagels online, and they do delivery too.
