A new cafe selling fancy brews seems to open every week in Madrid - actually have you noticed how trendy cafes are ubiquitous around the world these days? MacDonalds for caffeinated cool kids. Hey, I’m not complaining! But I thought we’d reached peak coffee shop until Slow changed my mind.
At first glance it’s not so different from the competition; up-cycled furniture and fittings, healthy breakfast bowls, vegan options and all the usual array of coffee sizes, temperatures and flavours are present and correct!
So why Slow? Well, it is slightly off the main drag; just enough for it to feel undiscovered. It’s really cosy but airy at the same time - there’s room enough between the variety of seating arrangements for one not to feel boxed in. Or maybe it’s because it’s like a living room with its plants and shelving that I feel so at home here.
Of course the coffee is excellent as well, and the staff are sweet. Busier on the weekend but during the week you might have it to yourself if you’re lucky!
