Le Petitjean has come a long way from its humble, ‘illegal’ beginnings. A few years ago, this small bakery operated under the radar, yet word spread fast: for the best croissants and delicate tartlets in town, you had to queue early. Now, they’ve secured their spot on the Nieuwe Binnenweg, with a beautiful bakery where you can not only pick up pastries but also enjoy them with a coffee upstairs.
What makes Le Petitjean extra special is the open view of the kitchen. As you step inside, you’re greeted by a counter full of irresistible baked goods, and right behind it, you can see the bakers in action. To reach the upstairs seating, you even have to walk through the kitchen, giving you a behind-the-scenes look at the magic in the making.
Everything here is delicious, but if you’re into savoury treats, don’t miss the Danish with blue cheese. If you have a sweet tooth, you truly can’t go wrong with anything they make.
It can get crowded, especially on weekends, but trust me, it’s worth the wait.
