Do you like stews...?!? I know it's not the fanciest meal, but if Aragorn likes it, why wouldn't you...? All kidding, and Lord Of The Rings references aside, Macedonian Stews are very traditional and a delicious meal. It's a great choice if you want a bit more than the ordinary brunch or lunch, plus they are known to be a good hangover remedy if you've had too much to drink the other night.
My favourite spot for this meal is Guesthouse Dukat, not too far away from the Catholic Church. The interior is nicely decorated, giving you the feeling that you are in some village out in the country, in an old country house, although you are still in the city's center.
Sure they serve all the other foods that you would expect to find in a Macedonian establishment, but I personally go there for a salad paired with the inevitable Rakija, and a bowl of stew. It is served in traditional metal pots with bread, plus vinegar mix and some very hot peppers aside. Beef, Chicken or Fish, pick your poison and enjoy.
P.S. I usually switch to beer or wine after the salad, so you can try that. They have some excellent white and red wines from both Bovin and Kamnik Wineries.
