Kaijakka is THE place in Tampere where the locals gather, have a few drinks and sing their hearts out on the karaoke stage, in front of everyone! Some brave souls are actually able to sing, while some others are only singing just for laughs, in which case the singing might be horrendous. In that case, you can escape to the bar section of Kaijakka, where you cannot hear the karaoke singers and can have a drink in peace.
Kaijakka uses the online karaoke service Singa and requires you to download an app in order to put yourself in queue to sing. Singa's catalogue of karaoke songs is impressively vast, having not only songs in English and Finnish songs but also in various other European languages, such as French, German and Dutch! And if you're a fan and up for a challenge, you can even sing a K-Pop or a Bollywood song!
While you can visit Kaijakka alone, in my opinion it is always better to come with a bigger group, such as your friends, your familiy or your colleagues. And despite your singing skills (or lack thereof), you can get the entire place singing along if your song choice and your energy is just right!
