Every time I go to Mercado Central for my weekly shopping, I make it a point to visit Perla Roja in the seafood section. It's a walk-up oyster bar where the oysters are impressively large compared to the ones I grew up with. They're almost the size of my hand!
You'll likely see the owner, Pepi, shucking oysters (sometimes with just a knife) and cracking jokes with customers. It's a small stall with just enough room to line up, order a few oysters, enjoy, and keep moving. Each oyster costs around 3 euros, and you can enjoy them with lemon, a Tabasco-like hot sauce, or a daring homemade spicy pepper sauce. A tip: grab a beer or wine from one of the other stalls in the Mercado, bring them over to La Perla Roja, and enjoy your oysters with a nice cool beverage.
