I thought it was time to dedicate an article to local shopping. Isn't it much more fun to shop sustainable, locally designed products? Skip the high street shops and wander off into the El Born neighbourhood to do some local shopping!
My two favourite shopping streets in El Born are Carrer dels Banys Vells and Carrer dels Mirallers. They hold so many hidden treasures!
In Carrer dels Mirallers check out Angle, a sustainable clothes brand designed in Barcelona; a bright, beautiful shop where they sell locally produced fashion and accessories that almost have a Scandinavian cool look to them. Right across you find one of my favourites Ivory, another fashion shop. Owner Carola sells her own fashion brand Ivory here. Besides that she has carefully curated a beautiful collection of local fashion and jewellery brands.
Paralel to this street there is Carrer dels Banys Vells. There are several shops with their atelier right in the back, such as Bono Bono, where an Argentinian couple design, produce and sell their own fashion brand. At Colette they sell sustainable jewellery made from vintage fabric and materials, also all locally designed by the owner Susana. And the cool kid on the block; Growold sells everything you need to fit in with the skate and surf culture of Barcelona!
It's impossible to name every shop but trust me, these streets & their local businesses are worth the wander!
