Although my friends won't be happy I'm sharing this spot with all of you (they'd prefer I kept it a secret), I could not resist. Tacos Tacos is a small Mexican bar in the Poble Sec neighbourhood that is very popular with the local crowd. Here's why; it is delicious and cheap! The concept is simple; a no nonsense place with mainly tacos on the menu.
It is small and all set up for a 'fast' dinner. It's not a restaurant to get comfortable, but it's great if you are on a budget and for sure it's the best place to fix your taco cravings. Don't expect haute cuisine Mexican here, although if you ask me - and I have tried a lot of taco places - this is definitely my favourite!
The tacos at Tacos Tacos are quite small, and there is an amazing variety to choose from. I love that, because I can order 7 or 8 different flavours at least! My favourite? A classic cochinita pibil or the chicken mole (chocolate chicken!) are often doubled up in my basket. They come with different sauces, from mild to very spicy... I warned you, go easy on that one.
It's always quite busy and you cannot make reservations, so come early or prepare to wait a bit. Because it is a great spot to have some beers and celebrate a Taco Tuesday!
