Okay, I already told you about my favourite flea market, the "Südstadion Flohmarkt" (South station flea market), but to be perfectly honest I cannot even decide which one of the, let's say four, cool ones (Unicenter Flohmarkt, Alte Feuerwache, Südstadion, Wilhelmplatz) is the best.
So, this flea market is located in the residential area of Nippes; an area that has become increasingly popular among young families, creative people and students over the past couple of years. It's multicultural and, just like Ehrenfeld, lively and vibrant.
The flea market takes place at the Wilhelmplatz once a month. There's also a big market every day (Mondays till Saturdays) which is always crowded, since it's famous for its good prices. You will find good, fresh vegetables, fruits and herbs here and each of the vendors try to promote their offers as well as possible. My personal trick to figure out the real best price is going to the booth where most of the Turkish women like to shop.
Just like the weekly market, the flea market can be super-crowded and busy, especially in the morning when it officially starts, which is around 10:00. That's why I always try to get there as early as possible. Even if I have to wait a bit for the vendors to set up their booths. Then, I usually get a strong coffee from one of the bakeries or kiosks around and slowly stroll across the place, enjoying the "quiet before the storm".
