I noticed that when you live in a new place, you start missing things from home that you hadn't ever thought about. For me, it was cats in the streets. Except for some specific areas, you will not be seeing stray cats in the streets of Barcelona. That's actually good because it means that there are people taking care of them but if you love animals as much as I do, you need to find a solution for this.
That's when I found Espai de gats. The name means "The cat space" and it is the first cat bar in Barcelona. You have to make a reservation before going there, which can be easily made through their webpage. It costs 2.5€ for 30 minutes and you can add extra services also, like drinks and food. And the whole time you will be around these really cute cats they have here. I cannot promise they will be paying attention to you, but it is worth a try. This place also works as an adoption center, which means that if you cannot seem to say goodbye to one of the cats, you can take it home with you.
Besides that, they organize different events (all related to cats obviously) which include talks, training courses etc. You can also help by buying something in their online shop or even right there when you go for a visit.
